Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans

A Harvest and Movement Ban on all vehicles in paddocks throughout the Shire of Brookton is in place from midnight to midnight on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

The Shire of Brookton also has an SMS text notification advising on the imposition and lifting of Harvest and Movement Bans.  Please call the Shire of Brookton Administration Office on (08) 9642 1106 to register for this service.

Dates to Remember

Due to unseasonal weather conditions, these dates may be extended or shortened.  You must check with the Shire of Brookton for further details.

Fire Breaks

All land owners and occupiers are to have completed their firebreaks by 1st November each year and they are to be maintained up to and including 14th April each year.  
Failure to comply may result in a $5,000 penalty.

Slasher and Rotary Mower Ban

A ban on the use of slashers and rotary mowers shall apply from 1st December to 28th February each year during the hours of 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and from 6:00 pm on the day a Total Fire Ban is imposed, unless the use is

  1. On a property within a townsite of any size that is reticulated or irrigated; or
  2. On a property outside of the townsite that needs to be slashed or mowed and is irrigated or reticulated, and is less than 1 hectare in area.
