EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST - Two (2) External Audit & Risk Committee Members

The Shire of Brookton is seeking expressions of interest from the Community for 2 new external independent members for it's Audit & Risk Committee. 

The Audit & Risk Committee is an advisory committee of Council with 5 members. 2 members must be external and independent of Council. The Shire President and 2 other Councillor's make up the balance. 

The new members must satisfy the criteria as laid out in the Terms of Reference for the Audit & Risk Committee. 

Council is looking for 2 new independent members to join the committee for a 2 year term, commencing as soon as practicable. 

The Shire President commented: 

"To ensure that the Committee is well equipped to perform its role, we are keen to hear from interested Community Members with the knowledge and skills that align with the Terms of Reference for the Audit & Risk Committee."

"The appointment of independent members is consistent with the advice received from the Office of the Auditor General."

"Ideally applicants should have a strong financial background. Risk Management and Governance experience is also desired, but we are happy to hear from anyone who believes that they can bring skills to the table that will add value to the work of the Committee and ultimately the Shire." 

The qualifications of the two independent members is contained in the Terms of Reference for the Audit & Risk Committee. The Committee meets at least 4 times per year.
