Brookton local Thomas Copping was critically injured in an incident on Saturday 6 May, while attempting to cross train tracks in the town centre.  The thoughts of Shire Council and staff are with the family as Thomas recovers from this tragic accident.

First responders from St John Ambulance Brookton Sub-Centre, Brookton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Pingelly SES attended the scene, along with officers from WA Police.

Shire President, Katrina Crute and Chief Executive Officer, Ian D’Arcy said in a joint statement - “In a small community any incident involving a well-known resident has a wide reaching impact, in particular on our emergency volunteers. The volunteers from all services worked together in what was a very confronting incident. All of Brookton shares an immense pride in the professionalism and compassion that these volunteers demonstrate at every call out.”

Thomas Copping was airlifted to Perth via the RAC helicopter where he remains in a stable condition.
